Openning an office in Australia

Does anyone have any experiences in trading/opening offices outside the UK? I am not planning to employ anyone as the business will be online with call centre support and warehouse fulfilment distribution but I think I need to setup an Australian office (& bank account?) for all the legal & tax?

Would be grateful for any pointers!
 
Yes, it can be done - but if you open an Australian branch you'll most probably need an individual who has a residential address in Australia to act as what is called a local agent.

With such an individual in place you can secure an ARBN from the company regulator, ASIC.

Once you have an ARBN you can obtainan ABN from the Australian Taxation Office.

And once you have an ABN you can open a bank account in Australia. No ABN means you won't be able to open a bank account locally.
