Does anyone have a list of which online PR sites are worth using to promote my business?

I want to use sites that both attract readers who might benefit the company but also, obviously, want the SEO benefit of some quality links.

Have used pressreleasepoint and pressbox so far...

Many Thanks for those 2 lists - they both had sites on there that I had not heard of before.

The "thepressreleasesite.com" list also had some useful blurb at the beginning about how the effort of doing press releases has actually proved worth it (hurray). But also that some sites are just too buggy to be bothered with.

Interestingly I have just spent ages this morning trying unsuccessfully to get a release to submit on i-newswire.com (to which I have successfully submitted before) but that is listed on both the lists as a good site :|

Each of the sites have their own foibles and what is acceptable for one may not be for another although some (such as i-Newswire) seem to arbitrarily reject PRs from time to time. It would be well worth going through their guidelines for acceptance before trying again though.

Have added openpr.com to my list - another I hadn't come across, so thanks.

I'm curious that you prefer article marketing "if time is an issue". We do, generally, focus more on articles and only do press releases when we have some noteworthy news (i.e. some of our profits this month going to Cancer Research UK as it's Breast Cancer Awareness month).

In my experience articles are much more effort simply because they have to be much longer and have unique content, but your comment has got me thinking again about the best way to publish articles - bit of a different theme to this thread but I remember reading on this forum before that lots of articles on a few good sites is better than a few articles published on lots of sites. So all of our articles are published on only about 10 - 15 sites.

Any opinions on whether this is a reasonable approach or should we publish articles to as many sites as possible? I suppose the same question goes for press releases.....

it's debatable and something i have not seen clear results for either way. that said, considering that the basic ideaology behind Google's ranking is "as many backlinks from as many unique domains as possible" (in broad terms at least) I would consider the more articles you publish the better, regardless of whether the content is unique or not.

Feel free to add www.articleboost.co.uk to your list, it's mine and I'm promoting it heavily.

We just built Press Bot for our own purposes and opened it up for people to freely submit their articles, editorials and press releases.
pressbot.co.uk

Sorry for a plug to be my first post but this is the first thread I have read LOL

Anyway, the site will be promoted heavily and will definatly serve in time for SEO and Press purposes.

You will be able to add links, images and files to the listing and we can definalty use the added content. As I said, site is as old as today!

eventdomain

are monitored by our local press and have seen stories in the local rag generated from content posted too

Forget the dumb pr lists - start ringing round the newspapers, every one has a 'send us your story' form - so send in your release directly. Dont waste time with pr listing websites, they will NOT get you into the newspapers - I promise you that. If they like the 'sound' of the story, you'll be asked to send a release in to them - chances are they wont interview you at that point, telephone-interviews are done later, dont forget the story needs to pass through the editors first.

PRweb is worth looking at and also some of the free ones.

No, I dont think so. Having used them for one of my sites, only got about 10 weblinks from it - dont bother with these. Come-on, you can get 10 weblinks for free, why pay for that amount.

But you wont get any press from it.
