Online Marketing

Does anyone know the best way to market a new company. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. I have already got my name on twitter/facebook and free ad sites. The next step for me is to splash some cash and get some proper marketing, but which sites or companies do you recommend.

Thanks

Hi Essence,

Your marketing will all depend on who your ideal customers are. That way you can research where they are online and offline and work back from there.

If you are focusing on online marketing I would say a website is your first port of call then all the free directories, and social media activity will drive traffic to your site.

If you could post a bit more info about your products and services it may get some more ideas flowing.

Thanks

Hi Daniel,

Just seen your other post, great identity you have there, we are in a similar line, where are you based, we may be able to share work in the future.

I generated a lot of business by attending networking groups like 4N BforB and the like to build a database of contacts that you can e-mail on a regular basis.

Some good old cold calling has worked for me too, just need to make it non pushy and accept it will take time to build relationships with people.

Thanks

Do you have a website?
Typical type of client?
Location?
Types of service?

Basically there is a lot to take into account. Feel free to PM me your number and I would be happy to give you a call with some totally free marketing and sales advice.

I hope this helps

Dave

You can try adwords but you need to spend time studying for keywords its quite important once you find those target keywords then it can be very fruitful in the ROI it generates

Google adwords is good to an extent and can work, only thing is that when the money runs out your ad runs out.

SEO is something which takes time but has a longer term benefit , Being an SEO im obviously going to say that .

However its another form of online marketing as opposed to Adwords .
It really depends on what you sell , what your budget is....

Just another option , if you decide to go down the SEO route make sure you get someone possibly local who can provide references to other sites they have done , as theres a lot of shoddy SEO's out there.

...is to get the fundamentals in place as soon as possible. Take a good hard look at your audience and ask yourself what they will want to buy from you and then present your services clearly and in a way that they will find engaging. Most startups go out of business within 2 years because they fail to invest in growing their business and do not understand that it is primarily the growth that pays for the investment not the cash they don't have on day 1.

  • Build a well optimised marketing led web site.

  • Bring traffic to the website with effective advertising.

  • Convert traffic into buyers with relevant engaging content.

  • Provide excellent service and build a loyal client base (gradually becoming less reliant on advertising).

  • Maintain client loyalty with suitable promotions and communications.

  • Innovate and publicise new services as your skills and experience grows.

  • Join your recognised industry body as soon as you possibly can.

You will need find it easier and be more likely to succeed if you engage a marketing expert to provide a plan of the process and handle the various services you will need. Leaving you free to do the business. Your hardest decision and task will be finding a marketing expert who will provide you with a costed plan, evidence that they have done it before, and an understanding of your industry. They should understand and address your cashflow needs by staging payments. They should have all this available for you for free so you can make you decision and drive your business to growth from day 1.

If you don't do this you will lose money in lost sales, your business will grow more slowly, if at all and you will spend countless hours struggling to deal with a range of experts selling you their various wares each individually convinced that its the most important thing you should do, and they may indeed be good at their specific discipline.

Only a marketing expert can show you the whole picture with your commercial objectives at the forefront and audience in mind.

PM me if you want more info because we specialise in marketing services, but you guessed that already :)

We're marketing ourselves online using Twitter, FaceBook (although not as much) and by getting listed in online directories as well as joining in forums :)

We're also doing some non-pushy cold calling just really to let people know that we exist and what we can do for them.

We've also got flyers to distribute, targeting businesses in the local area... a job for this evening :)

Another thing we did was to get our web address on the rear window of our car, so hopefully that will help us to get noticed to.

.... just a few things we are currently doing. It's hard work being a new business when people don't really know you but it'll be worth it in the end :D
