Online Map Showing Radius From Postcode..

Hi there

Does anyone know of a good service which shows a map with a perimeter, say, 5 miles from a postcode? So it will generate the map with a perimeter drawn around it?

......although not really what your looking for but if you need the population of a specific area, wikipedia can general help...

The Government has neighbourhood statistics where you can break down to output areas, local authority boundaries, political wards and you can even draw a rough area on the map to get statistics - I think they are from census so are quite long out of date but can be good for market research as even that is better than a shot in the dark.

Thanks for the population answers... I've actually had a go at this, to estimate the number of people within range of my proposed shop.... but it would be lovely if there was a software tool to help!

Anyway... more importantly, I fear I hijacked vSpy1's thread - as no one provided an answer to the original post.... so I'm bringing it back up into 'today's posts' - in the hope that someone has an answer for him! Sorry vspy!

Also, the link I posted above is now working - it allows you to draw a radiu from a central point on a map if you want to set a particular catchment etc..

Google maps can do this, although there are limits to the number of request per day.

Have a look at one of our client sites (they do jet hire) that use a map to show a radius from a selected point: http://www.globalaircharter.co.uk/fleet/citation-mustang

An another: we added the ability to drag the central point: http://www.venuedetective.co.uk/ (you need to enter a location first to get it to work)
