definitely not - whole new batch of data protection & privacy issues. One company I was talking to about our online backup (shameless plug http://www.redline.co.uk/online-backup) decided to go to a US company because it was cheaper. 2 problems
1. tech support was only available Monday-Friday 6am 6pm PST (2pm-2am GMT!)
2. Data stored was governed by US data protection and privacy laws which allow far easier access to the data than if it was stored in the UK.

So far they have got away with it - but is it worth it to safe a few quid a month?

I guess it depends on if you're storing other people's info or your own.

For me, Dropbox is too convenient to consider other backup solutions. Ok so its not a 100% online backup solution but it does the job and then some.
