How much do you guys spend on online marketing per month? is online advertising working for you?

Among 18 clients, I look after their online spend of just over £14,000 - an average of around £800 a month. That's generally spread around Adwords and any relevant social networks.

Ironically enough I spend nothing on my own...

I think that the answers you'll get to this are irrelevant without an ROI figure, which of course you've covered with your 2nd question. I personally figure that anything less than 3x ROI is an absolute failure, and that 10x should be the point at which you decide a campaign is 'successful'.

Around £4.5K per month at the moment but expected to go up due to new business launch. At the moment its working but we do keep a very close eye on it and monitor return on investment.

We used to manage our own Adwords but now outsource it to another company who seem to be doing a better job than I did!

In addition to that we also send out our own Adscreens when they are not out on hire with customers.

I would recommend learning SEO - once you learnt it (and keep abreast of all changes) then its free! thats a pretty good ROI! This is what i have done and 90% of my leads come online from my own seo. Matt cutts blog is a good start (he works for google) and shares teh latest thinking from the "inner sanctum"

Well, I think online ad can work great but depends on the popularity of the website hosting your ad. But be ware the popular ones normally would charge more than the less known ones. Most of the very new ones like myself allow you to even place business ads for free. Hope it helps.

Have just brought SEO for Dummies! Plus a couple of other SEO books. Will see how I get on with them.
