This is probably more a question for @Matt.smith.TP or anyone else in the card processing industry...

I hear there is an impending date of October 15th where stored card payments which were not recorded under 3DS v2 will start being declined. Is this true?

If it is true how are major retailers who hold peoples cards for quick and easy purchases (such as Amazon) handling such a need for so many people needing to update their cards which are stored?

I've heard a rumour that many banks are not ready for the October 15th deadline, again anyone know anything about this - if the deadline is indeed correct?

3DS v2 has been around for a while now, I assume any business with incorrect stored cards for the switchover will invalidate the cards or ask for the extra information provided, but as far as I'm aware v2 is the same as v1 just different routing by processors - so I wouldn't believe stored cards would be affected as long as all the data needed for v2 validation is there.

That's my understanding @WebDesires but we're seeing random declines through a payment gateway we integrate with at the moment and that gateway are telling us - and I quote - "failed payments due to 3DS v2 are due to some banks not being ready for v2", and we're being primed by them to expect a mountain of card declines from 15th October. We've been using 3Dv2 process for over a year, but apparently that's not relevant.

This has a financial impact into several million p/a so a little concerning so I'm trying to see if we're being spun a yarn.

There have been a lot of changes to payments recently and a lot of banks and companies haven't been ready causing all sorts of payment processing issues.
