    Hi

I am getting frequent calls from Indian scammers to my mobile trying to sell me an iphone for £30 a month.

I've scam baited them twice, costing them 20 minutes of their time each time, giving fake details. but they still keep calling me.

They have an 020 3 number and within hours I got 2 calls from them today with different number. They just want to get their foot in the door and get you to validate yoiur card for £1 payment and then you can imagine what happens next.

Is there a VOIP provider I can call to complain about them and shut their services down? I scambaited them for 40 minutes in total and you would think it cost them a fair amount of time and money to call me. but they still call me and I'm bored of wasting my time now. I just pick up the phone and put it down without hanging up and walk away.

i reported them to the android fraud reporter so it should block that number from use. but they re-roll different numbers all the time.

the numbers i got called from were
    020 3154 4522,
    020 3154 4519,
    020 3154 4242,
    020 3154 4976,
    020 3154 4590

As you can see above, the just reroll new numbers to get past nuisance call blockers

The phone numbers are, or at least they used to be, issued by Ofcom. So you should be able to file a complaint with Ofcom to have the numbers withdrawn, by rights they shouldn't be able to distribute calls outside their network without a valid number issue.

I was listening to moneybox podcast about this and the reason for this is that the bt phone infrastructure is apparently made up of analogue and digital parts which is slowly being upgraded to digital. The analogue to digital interface basically make it impossible to do the number validation

These days any one that rings that isn't in my contacts is ignored. I have even turn off voice mail. If they know me and really want to get in contact they will in another way.

The plethora of scammers are starting to kill off the phone ( as in voice calls ) as a useful contact mechanism.
Thats exactly the same approach I take - not in my contacts then no talkie talkie ?

I have adopted this policy too. Albeit I still have Voice Mail as chancers don't often leave VMs but genuine potential (good) contacts do take the time.

Fortunately the vast majority of junk calls are into the main business line so I don't hear them, staff instructed to never pass any call onto me, only take details.

It is sad state of affairs that such guards have to go up.

This is why you're getting the calls, it's called revenge, a common trait, they are passing your number around and tormenting you for fun.

Just talk over them and say...........Thank you for your call, you have a nice day, then hang-up.
