    Gout, that's interesting because I was recently diagnosed with this and I like to consider myself a spring chicken!

    Would you divulge your age, symptoms and remedies?:D

    Im 39 train in the gym most days but its mostly weights and about 20 mins of cardio work .
    Most of my adult life I was a long distance runner and the damage from this does not help.

    Its a very sharp pain in the joins of the ankles and toe bones that stops you from walking .It does only last for a couple of days though .

    Im not a carefull eater and drink alot at weekends but again this never helps !

    Hi Jermey

    According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, gout is a type of arthritis that is the result of a build-up of uric acid in the blood. A build-up of uric acid can be due to producing too much uric acid, not getting enough uric acid or consuming a lot of purine-rich foods. Foods that contain purines include meat (especially organ meats), anchovies, sardines and spinach. Typical symptoms of gout are inflamed, hot, stiff and painful joints that are usually characterised by attacks in the big toe but can also occur in heels, ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and fingers. This happens because excess uric acid forms urate crystals around joints. Gout is much more prevalent in men than in women, especially in men over the age of 40 who consume alcohol regularly. Drink plenty of water!!

    Hope you get over it soon,

    DANG! SOOOO many bells were ringing with that - thanks!

    not!!:eek::p

    And I just thought it was the regular, boring old types of arthritis to worry about!

    A thought Jeremy? Are you allowed pain killers? If so (and with arthritic syptoms myself) I've found that horse-sized co-codamol can give a happy glow to any of the aches and pains...:cool:
