Yipppeee ! My partner's been working on the SEO of our site and we're no.1 on google for our broadest term.

I'd expected it to take months, it's definitely time for that champagne to be cracked open.

On top of that, I've got an interview on ITV tomorrow - what brilliant timing !

A very, very happy Silky

It's an interview regarding a report recently released over the Children's Act and how working parents contribute to the increase in marriage breakdown. I've had a few radio interviews, this is my first TV appearance and I am sooo nervous !

I'll be sharing the sofa with Lorraine Kelly after GMTV. Would have preferred Philip Schofield but if I hang around the studio long enough you never know ;-)

I'm in Reddish, are you local?

Silky

Heaton Moor! I will definitely tune in! I'm no fan of her though, she's really false - I can't remember which comedy sketch did her saying "I'm not really your friend!"

Good to get some positive news, though a shame I won't get to see your interview (unless someone posts it on Youtube).

Used to live in Didsbury myself, had worked with clients in Reddish (Station Rd) and Stockport (centre) so I know the area.

Hi Frockery,
Yes it's the Children's Society report and it's as grim as the press want to make it - as ever statistics can be read in many ways. As usual working mums are pilloried in this, lone parents to be consigned to the stocks and wear sack cloth and we should all revert back to an Enid Blyton style existence. IF only life was so simple...

I'm afraid I missed you on the telly, Silky, as I got caught on the phone, but hope it went well this morning.

The Children's Society report is an interesting one with far more substance to it than the bits that have been highlighted by the media. Sadly, looking after children seems to have been devalued to the point of worthlessness, with lone parents (and home educators!) coming under sustained attack whether or not they go out to work to make ends meet.

The key ones to do with our business Al, we sell single parent holidays mainly but have other services on site that are also coming top.

Funnily enough, we also rank top for our competitor's name (a set of words) even though we haven't done it deliberately, I don't think it will make us too popular with them.

Each of the above terms have a different website (none of which are http://www.singlewithkids.co.uk/) as #1 - Do you own them all?

They are all www.singlewithkids.co.uk on my google and I've checked the whole web and UK. Are you looking at the sponsored ads?

Silky

HaHa! No - Are you?! Has somebody "promoted" your site using the buttons on your account? Try logging out of your google account. I have you at 5th for "single parent breaks"

How many more hits per day are you getting?

Its not your site coming up on my searches either? They don't come up on mine either?
Google can play tricks on you though, especially if you have an account with them.It can bring up sites you use alot thinking thats what you want to look at. it gives you a false impression of where you rank. Not sure if I explained that quite right but of you search you can find some more detailed info on it.I am sure though one of the SEO experts will explain much better though.

Stupid bloody thing....you're right Blush. I signed out of my account and ...:( Oh well, I've had 2 days of feeling happy about it, and at least I know now the big jump in yesterday's figures is definitely down to the publicity ! On the bright side we have come from nowhere to page 2 /3 and a 1, I still preferred the top spot idea! The SEO reports would have burst my bubble later tonight no doubt...

Well you know what they say about pride coming before a fall........wwwwwhoooooosh !! I guess the old saying is definitely true, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is ! ;) On the bright side though it means the extra website hits have all been driven by publicity and we'd get even more if we were on that top spot...

One of our competitors is a lot further down on the "real" google too, a slight sillver lining :-D
