Hi,

I have been thinking recently about setting up a website selling organic hair/ beauty oils.

I am thinking of using Bigcommerce, is this easy to use as I am not an expert at building websites?

Also with SEO and PPC, I have looked at Clicksubmit.co.uk and although people say it must be blackhat and you get what you pay for etc, but they guarentee whitehat techniques. PLUS the testimonials on there site, I have checked out their clients websites and alot of them do rank on page 1 of google for their keywords!!

I guess domain name choice makes a difference, e.g. organichairoils.co.uk is likely to rank high when people search for "organic hair oils"

If I build an attractive website with BigCommerce, and use click submits service, amd I likely to get visitors/ sales?

For me I know the products I am selling etc, but the thing putting me off is lack of knowledge with SEO, andnot knowing whether I will ever make a sale!!

Thanks in advance for your help

Graham

Make sure you choose an SEO company / consultant wisely. You need to be confident theres no danger of your site getting chopped off at the knees by shady SEO practices - its you who will pay the price. I'm not saying the company you mention do this (I have no clue) but here's a link to Googles advice on how to choose an SEO company:

https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35291?hl=en

Don't worry about keywords in domain names - see this:

Lastly and probably most importantly take some time to understand SEO, start with Googles guidelines and invest some time learning about them. Use the information to ensure your SEO knows and understands SEO too. Remember, get it wrong its you that pays no one else so get it right from the start and take note:

Google Webmaster Guidelines: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35769?hl=en

Really lastly now! read about links and link schemes here:

https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en

Particularly the section on the best way to get links (last 3 paragraphs) - ask your SEO how they are going to build links and see if it is inline with Googles Guidelines. (im not going to explain here - the link explains it all :) )

Remember - no matter who yor SEO is, you need to take the responsibility from the start and ensure you are in safe hands and that starts with developing a solid foundation of knowledge which will help you develop realistic expectations. (its going to take you a while to get to where you want to be, just as if you opened up a bricks and mortar shop - it takes time, patience and having the right partners from the start)

There's a million things to learn but above is a good place to start - im sure you'll get some good advice here on the forums too.

Sounds like its going to be a fairly niche product range. So less than 100 products?

If so I'd use WooCommerce rather than a heavy ecommerce platform. Or even test the concept with Shopify.

The domain you are thinking of is crap. Reads about a million different ways: Organic Chair Rolls, Organ Chair Oils, Organic Hair Oils.

I like keyword domains but they have to be readable and semi brandable.

So in this instance I'd think of an actual company name rather than using an exact match domain. Potentially get Organic or Oils fused with the name you choose. UKBForganics.com you get the drift.

Clicksubmit, you get what you pay for. I've not used them, haven't heard any success or horror stories either. Far too cheap though so I don't expect it to be good work.

Also, its probably a good idea to credit check them - you can do it for about a fiver, try a search for "company searches made simple".

Will help you weed out the fly by nights, last thing you want is for someone to run off with your money - no matter how little you are paying them.

Choosing a SEO company should be very careful. SEO will not only influence your website now, but also in the future. You can make a deeper understanding about the company and you'd better learn some SEO concepts by yourself. It's not so difficult.
