I got an email saying I could move onto:

"a new standard pricing rate of 1.9% + 20p for UK issued cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) and 2.9 + 20p for non-UK issued cards."

Does anyone know how I can see what I was on before? I don't know if I should accept or not.

I think most UK users were on the standard 2.4% + £0.20/€0.24/$0.30 per transaction + VAT unless you were processing over £20K.

I cannot see anywhere in my account which shows the actual rate, only what fee is charged on the transaction. A quick bit of calculator work should show the breakdown.

Stripe are looking even more competitive for use in the UK market

I'm a huge fan of stripe and seems like this new rate is even more competitive. What you have suggested sounds familiar. Tough call as probably 50% of our transactions are international.

Cheers!! :)

Badly written email had a CLICK HERE button to log on to the website. - With a 3rd party link to abcxyz.com. Not best practice unless you are targeting people that regularly fall for phishing emails!

Re the VAT, I googled it & found this...

https://support.stripe.com/questions/vat-on-stripes-fees

Stripe does not charge VAT on Stripe fees to customers located in European countries outside Ireland. Instead, you will need to self-account for VAT in your local VAT return under the reverse charge scheme at the prevailing VAT rate in your local country

That seems to contradict itself...it doesn't charge VAT but VAT must be accounted for?! (if it doesn't charge VAT, then what's to account for?!)

It's a bit misleading because surely they should only not charge VAT in European Countries if the customer is VAT registered (because it is then the customers responsibility to account for the VAT on their VAT return). However, if the customer is not VAT registered, then Stripe should be charging VAT.
