Hello

Myself Nd my husband are looking to set up our own cleaning business, having done some research I can see that most companies operate as an agency and charge a retainer or ongoing fee for finding the cleaner, literally there is only one in my area which operates as a employer. Ideally I want to be able to employ staff as I feel the relationship is much better and I would be able to find better staff who are going to be a more valuable asset to the team. My plan that way is being able to offer perks and benefits to give the team a chance to get more from their job. Can this be done if they are self employed, as in can I offer them days off, health insurance etc?

The reason I am asking is firstly I am new to having my own business and some advice would be wonderful, plus looking at those which operate as I wish increases the cost per hour from an average of £15 per hour to around £22 per hour. I have no issue charging more as we intend on offering more and We have a company where I am based which operates this model but it would be great to hear from anyone who could shed some light and advice on this discussion.

Thanks very much
Chris

Welcome to the Forums Chrisro.
I think you have a fantastic Idea. I think I know why most companies operate as an agency. It can be tricky to your cash flow if you are not employing people on 0 hour contracts. I know it sounds harsh. If you can manage to get clients to sign up for a year, and you will have many clients, then you will be able to employ someone safely.
