MissoldInvestments

Hi all, first time joiner.

Our existing site <removed URL> is ranking at the bottom of page 1 for the search term we are wanting to compete for "missold investments"

we set up a second site to try and push for 1st page rankings, <removed URL>

At the moment, the second site is not ranking very well, we are currently thinking of undertaking a new strategy, would welcome any ideas from the guys on here. I would like to note, we are going to do this work ourselves, so its not an opportunity for everyman adn his dog to pm for business. ;)

Look forward to hearing peoples thoughts

Just a quick addition - the site was performing better before the last update: cant seem to pick up where the route cause was.

Start with the easy optimisations, title, h1's, image alts, keyword mention in the right frequency/context/page location, internal links, etc, etc.

If your title is the one that doesn't start with "Missold Investments" at the beginning of it, yet everyone above you in the rankings has it that way.... hint, hint.

How about some blogging around the subject? If you can't have that big keyword from day one, which you likely can't then work around the edges and hoover up the long tail.

Hittail can be useful for providing some good content ideas without breaking the bank if you are going to be doing this yourself.

In the end, lots of solid, focused, long tail articles will bring in more traffic with better conversion metrics anyhow so work on your big term, but don't just sit there watching your ranking reports when there is likely a whole bunch of other, more productive stuff you could be doing.

Apologies guys, lots of things went on yesterday afternoon
Seems out site has some issues, all the site seems to be indexed to 404's and the .script file seems to be have been deleted. Its on a zeus server so tried using the converter tool to create the script file, uploaded it but its made no difference. The plot thickens!!:)

getting a bit closer to the point now..

found out that we switched servers recently - onto the zeus server, and a .htaccess file was created by the man who did the transfer.

so last night we were trying to do a rewrite.script file -

I think the problem lies in that maybe the IT company who is looking after us, has not enabled the rewrite script engine.

Fingers crossed that its going to work - have another site to transfer over later on today.

1) Use HTML5 and all it's new features if your not familiar with it basically just use more text that images and put your important titles in the <h1> tags, use <h2> and <h3> for subtitles.

2) As others have said content IS king, get some more blog posts, add some new pages etc. and encourage people to comment.

3) Be social, offer rewards for sharing your content on social media, put a link to share content on every page and if someone sees something they like, they will probably like it which will bring in more business.

getting local citations would greatly help. But before doing that, its also advised that you check your existing citation for any error in information ( company name, address, phone number and website must be exactly the same). If there are more sites with errors than those which are correct, that could also be the reason why your website ranking is not improving. hope this helps :)
