New Project - Call the Butler

Hi Folks,

Over the next few months i'm going to launch a domestic services company to complement my exisiting office cleaning business. The concept has been in trst mode with 12 customers for the past 6 weeks with very positive results. Along with my friends at Hot Igloo i've began to set up a website for this. I've been on the forums for a while and I see many people commenting on other peoples website and i'm wandering if you could assess mine for me. Cheers

Hi Barry :)

Like the look of the site but I'm a bit puzzled about the service page. 1st para reads

We are the premier providers of [SERVICE CATEGORIES]. Our goal is to provide you the very best of [ENTER WHAT YOUR PRODUCTS DO IN GENERAL TERMS OR DESCRIBE CHARACTERISTICS].

The rest of page is similar to that. It's been a long day, perhaps there's something I'm not grasping?

Good Luck. Linda

too much text on landing page and annoying flashing phone, plus circle looks a bit rubbish because words don't really fit.

I live in Northamptonshire - you can't help me - but I can't get that without reading far too much waffle.

You need to say something like - domestic management for the blah blah region - let us take care of the stuff you don't have time for.

get rid of flashing phone - it's pants.

Can't really disagree with what sillyjokes is saying (I must be mad :D )

The website has potential but you need to address the issues sillyjokes has picked up on. One final point, on the contact page, I would change the stock photo you have used as it is not consistent with the overall design.

Barry,

Appreciaite that the site is still in development. Just thought i'd send you a couple of must do's for search engines / google etc.

1- Make sure your <title> tag includes your keywords - rather than just 'home' - ie
<title>Butler Services in Fife etc......</title>
and keep it to less that 80 chrs long.
The contents of the <title> tag appear at the top of the browser window.

This is Googles first port of call to id your sites relevance.

2. Include your keywords in a text title for your front page. (You do not have a title yet). Try and replicate your <title> tag in this text title.
Include this title in <h1> tags to show google you mean business.
(ie you want to make sure that the first text a googlebot hits are your key words).

I made some adjustments to my own home page over the weekend, using the above, to target the phrase "web design mambo cms" a have gained first place 48 hours later - per the below.
http://www.google.com/search?q=web+design+mambo+cms

Hope it's of help.

Regards

Hi Click2.

I think it's probably worth pointing out that this site isn't complete yet, and hasn't been moved onto its own webspace. At the moment the site is still linked to ours so that the client is able to view it as it develops.

We haven't forgotten about the meta-tags. We are still developing the design with the client and the meta-tags will be added when the content is finalised to make sure they accurately reflect the site's keywords.
