New Posts/My UKBF button all screwy?

When I click "New Posts" or "My UKBF" it has stopped working properly in the last hour or so for me - a new thread of mine and recent posts simply ain't showing - although they are there if you browse to the Forum Section in question??

For example - I can't see this thread when I look at "My UKBF" or "New Posts"

I have just logged on since late morning, and I know this place is popular but its telling me that since 11am there are some 489 new posts ... you have been busy Ray!!!

It's all gone wrong - perhaps I have been punished for only posting about 20 times today

Yep I see what you mean about when you reply to a thread it then disappears out of the list of new posts ... quite disconcerting!!

I struggle to believe there have been more than 460 posts since I last checked 2-3 hours ago but will wade through and see - this was one of the top ones on View New Posts.

You will find Lynn that you get to approx page 4 and find that there are ones marked as not being new since your last visit, but that you aint read them yet!!

Its actually annoying me now not having the replied threads appearing as well as ones to be read, so much so, I am going to kick the cat (if I had one!), ner I'm heading into the other room switching off and hopefully when I come back later, someone will have pushed the correct button so it now works!!

Hi there,

Hmmm, I did change the way in which unread posts are displayed - see here.

It's now accurately showing unread posts, but I'm wondering if it's rolled back a few....which may explain why you're seeing so many of them. I just marked all as read (from the bottom of the main forum listing), then I know any new ones are genuinely new.

But the 'My UKBF' link should be fine...I'll look into this, and I bet it's related somehow.

I only pressed the buttons at a member's request, promise!

The 'New Posts' and the way in which unread posts were being handled was actually wrong - vBulletin was set to estimate unread items based on login activity, so I thought it would be beneficial to have it working properly...-ish...

Hi Ray...still looking into this. The only explanation I can find at the minute is that changing the 'unread posts' to be more accurate has somehow altered recent subscriptions. There are things called 'Scheduled Tasks' in vBulletin that keep the database clean...I'm wondering if this is part of the problem also.

Best thing is to leave it overnight (when these Tasks run) and see if it's working tomorrow.

Hi Darren - sounds like the best plan.

"My UKBF" button is totally fried - it does not update - let's see what the morning brings.

For me, UKBF is virtually unusable at the moment

Ray, you are overworking the site. You have to go for a tea break or something. Can you see fumes floating above your computer? Can you smell burning coming from your PC?

Darren put it back as it was .... please!! There is nothing worse than knowing you have replied to something but cant find it in the new threads, ie as soon as you read them or answer them, they disappear and you can only find them when someone else replies to them!! Most annoying ...!!
