New Member/Webshop Advice

Hi all, Just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully get some advice. Looking around the forums everyone seems really knowledgable on subjects where my mind is blank!

I am researching starting up a business selling initially on ebay but it is so saturated in my area (jewellery/craft) that I feel it would be a good idea to also have a webshop, especially as I want to offer a repair service as well as items for sale.

My question is, are there any good free webshop sites? Or should I bite the bullet and pay? If so who? I am doing this as a 'Hobby Business' so want to keep my initial outlay as low as possible.

I would get yourself some Web Hosting, I use Vidahost.

I would then install OpenCart (which is free)

Vidahost offer a "1 Click Install" option for OpenCart so you will be up and running in minutes

Etsy is a good call, as is http://www.folksy.com/ a similar UK based site.

Agree with the above, if it were me looking to start without a big outlay I would be looking to use wordpress with one of the free shop plugins, taking payments via PayPal.

I had a quick look at them but it's all in dollars?? Does that mean I have to ship to the US or can I just do within the UK? Thanks for your help

Thanks everyone for the advice, I'll check out folksy as well and research what wordpress is!
