I can already do that with facebook, nextdoor, Google and be sure I will reach a far wider audience. And promote whatever months in advance and all for free.

I can’t find out what’s on this Sunday with your website. Until I can there is no value in creating a listing or just using the site.

I think you need to get a quick large audience and I think to do that you need to grab the youth.

I would suggest go for something like the NUS or a nationally spread student aimed site like The Tab, use the volume of free postings for things like "Reading University Winnie the Pooh soc, pooh sticks marathon" to get the traffic to flog pins for "best local kebabs" or "student offers" from paying advertisers

Yes, its a local signpost to those websites - to get even more people seeing your offering. It compliments them, not competes with thm. It's not about events months in advance - it's about whats happening now. What is fresh and exciting. What's creating a buzz. Or in the next few weeks (max). There is some very cool additions coming soon which may address some of your concerns. :)

Oh wow.. now that's an idea. You can pay for the pins using Applepay right now, so students could pin it on there for people - for a markup.... in fact anyone could. Just needs to not look like some massive scam. They could walk into shops, show the site on their mobile, offer to pin a sales offer for a month for £10.. £7 profit into their pocket....

I’m probably not your target user which is why I don’t get it. I don’t want fresh and exciting, I don’t even want a buzz. I just want to know if there is car boot sale next weekend or a farmers market or a local fete.

I agree with @UKSBD - you don’t want people uploading images. Your bandwidth will skyrocket and without moderation you could all sorts of rubbish and possibly copyright issues. Far better to pull the images from the event url.

In time you will be able to, there is little point getting a complex filtering system built yet - there is nothing to filter. This is a beta/MVP to test people's initial reaction :)

Yes, that's a concern. I will emply the same techniques as other media platforms (TinEye or Yandex reverse image search, watermark AI checks, metadata checks), as well as a moderation team. Content isn't static, anything dodgy that isn't picked automatically or by the community will expire after 24 hours.

Bandwidth is not a concern - if we are that big that it becomes a concern, then we will have more than enough paid pins to cover the cost - and still lots to donate to charity.

A date filter is key. People rarely want to know what's happening today. It's coming events that will make your site popular.

As to the images, keep everything really simple. All they need to do is enter a URL and your website can grab the applicable data (title, date, time, images, description). The easier you make for people the more likely they are to add a pin.

Agreed thank you - perfect for events. I can't pull images for offers and clubs/groups or social media however so will think on that :) Wishing you a relaxing evening.

Why not? It's not difficult. This is just one example:
