I have just set up a limited company and am looking for some advice please,
My line of work will involve mostly working for another Ltd company as a labour only service on various sites in UK, what i want to know is would i be covered for public liability on the company i am working FOR or would i need to get my own? also same question for indemnity insurance, reason i ask is i am not sure i can afford such things as the machinery we work on in hospitals is often very expensive, Any other advice or a checklist of things to make sure ive done before trading much much appreciated.
Thanks

I think the basic answer about Public Liability is you need your own as you appear to be a sub contractor and as such will not be covered by the Main Contractor's Insurance policy. If you have other employees working for you you will also need Employers Liability. You should consult with an Insurance Broker for the definitive answer in relation to your question concerning Indemnity Insurance.

If you can tell me what exactly you are doing and the chain of command in terms of who tells you what to do, when to do it, etc.. I can then give you the correct answer.
I am installing pipework in hospitals for medical gases and such things as for chain of command there is a project manager who instructs us what to do and when and he is self employed CIS i believe he is covered im told by the main contractors insurances but as my situation being limited company is different to his CIS thats the reason i was curious if id be covered also and hopefully save some expense on my part.
one other question if for instance something did go wrong and i damaged a expensive machine would i be liable to lose my house or worse ?as I assumed that was the whole point of a limited company.
sorry for the silly questions i have kind of jumped into this head first as i needed it set up asap.
thanks for the quick replies :)

I think what you are saying is;

Hospital contracts job to company (ltd), said company (ltd) has project manager (self employeed) working for them, on behalf of the company (ltd) the project manager subcontracts work to you.

Is that correct?

If you'd like to PM me your contact details we can discuss over the phone - this might be easier and quicker.
