Networking

Business owners, could I kindly ask, what time of the day do you prefer networking events (lasting about 60-90 mins and just meeting for a coffee and light snack) to take place?

1. Before 9am

2. After 5.30pm

3. During the working day

4. At the weekend

Any input would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

To me it has less to do with the time of day and more to do with the type of people that attend.

I would go to one at 4am on a Sunday if it had people that were truly worthwhile to me.

I run two monthly Friday lunchtime networking events and it can be different every month how many people attend. One month we'll get 40 people, the next will be only 20.

At a personal level I am too lazy to attend early breakfast meetings - though to qualify that, the ones I have attended have also been too structured and require weekly attendance which I will not commit to.

I much favour the Biscotti or First Friday format which takes a lump out of the middle of the day and creates a break from the office.

Evening events are OK, but can take second place to social commitments - this is true in a far greater way of weekend ones.

I'd like to keep what I'm thinking about very informal but at a regular time and at the same place so that people can just turn up, if they wish. I place value on low cost and feeling comfortable and suspect others may feel the same.

This sounds very similar to the First Friday Network - I run two of these events: First Friday Lewes and Third Friday Brighton. They are free and informal, people can come and go as they wish. There's no speeches or presentations, members can just connect with the others in the room.

You can see a promo video I got done back in April of First Friday Lewes: HERE

[I know I keep promoting these events but just to reassure everyone I don't make any money directly. I pay a licence to run them, and the advantage for me is my details are on all the promotional material.]
