Need to find a good Magento agency

We're looking at redeveloping our Magento 1.9 site > 2.3.x, which will include a complete overhaul of the branding and visual design, plus a few bespoke features.

Does anyone have any advice for finding a good agency? I want to push our spec out to around three, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with the choice.

We're based in the East Midlands - not sure if geography should be part of the decision??

It's always a bit tricky finding and choosing good developers. We have worked with several Magento developers over the years but there is a company that we've been very impressed with and they are the developers for one of our biggest clients.
