need script for product buying options....

Hi,

I am having my site redesigned but it has a major flaw. Most of my products need personalising and have options that need to be filled in.
If someone buys a product, they need to fill in, for example, the name of the gift recipient and a message. I need a script (or something) that will show if they haven't filled in the options before they add it to the basket and purchase, so that they do fill in the options.

I can't post a link cos i haven't made enough post but my site is My Personalised Gifts . com and if you for example click on the

"Personalised Silver Plated Joining Heart Keyrings" which is on the homepage under the brand new gifts, second product down, (i'm suggesting this one as the validate options box isn't ticked)

There is a great big orange box with a moving pencil saying to click here to personalise the item but people just don't seem to see it. They then purchase, without the personalisation needed and i then have to chase them up, which can take days as they never put their phone number in the box and they don't check their emails daily.

Does anyone here know how to a) make them fill it in or they can't add it to the basket and something pops up saying, Personalise your item before you add it to the basket, or b) any other solution?!

My shop is run with EKMpowershop which does have a function in the back end when editing a product to tick a box to make people fill in the options, but most of these boxes aren't ticked as it is a newish feature, so i have to manually go into each product to edit it, (over 1400) and manually tick each box. I am going to have to do this but it will obviously take an age so i want a quicker solution. But another problem is even when the customer wants to buy a product that has this box ticked so they cannot add it to the basket without the options being filled it, they click on add to basket and nothing happens. If they cannot see the massive orange button that says to personalised your options then they go elsewhere thinking they cannot buy it. I need something to then pop up over the add to basket button saying, "you need to personalised this item" before they can add it to the basket.

I hope this makes sense, can anyone help? Will a script help? Can anyone on here write me one? Please ask me to clarify anything you don't understand as i really need this problem solved.

If you are considering an alternative solution to using the EKMpowershop site builder and EKMpowershop shopping cart in order to solve your problem selling personalised gifts, where you need to ensure a shopper enters the personalisation details for items, then please consider taking a look at the ShopIntegrator hosted shopping basket add-in. Last month we released new features for the ShopIntegrator shopping basket to sell personalised and customised items. If you have activated the personalisation feature for a product, your customer must enter the personalised item details you are requesting in the online shop checkout. The shopper masy not proceed to the checkout payment stage until they enter the personalisation info for every product you have asked for custom details to be entered for.

You may specify your own custom prompt for each product or leave it with the default prompt for special instructions for the product. You may also pre-fill the text input area that the user is asked to fill in, creating a template to help structure your shopper's response as to the specific personalised item details for a particular product. ShopIntegrator is clever enough to know that if you pre-fill the user input area with your text template, that this doesn't count as the shopper having entered personalised item details and that the shopper must still add some information in to your pre-filled text to allow them to proceed.

On the shopping basket for selling personalised items demo Click the ecommerce Add to Basket button then the View Basket button and you'll see the personalised item shopper input in action. For personalised items I would recommed the ShopIntegrator Buy Now button instead to add the personalised item to their basket and open the basket in the same operation so the shopper is immediately requested to enter the personalisation info for every quantity of the product in one step. The appearance show for the demo is customisable for you to use your own buttons, fonts, colours etc.

Bulk upload product creation from a spreadsheet is possible for you to create the 1400 products in your ShopIntegrator online shop admin console, so it would be a quick shop set up to create your products in your shopping cart online admin console.

ShopIntegrator is a hosted shopping basket add-in rather than a full website building tool, so you would need to combine our hosted shopping basket with a content management system like WordPress, using our WordPress ecommerce plugin, DotNetNuke (DNN), Moonfruit, Joomla etc. You might even be able to keep your EKMpowershop website and add-in ShopIntegrator shopping cart buttons in to your EKMpowershop web pages if it allows you to paste an HTML Snippet or HTML script in to each of your pages, not sure if this is possible with EKMpowershop?
