For the obvious reason that someone else could register the domain name etc before you. When I came up with my business name I did not consult anyone, registered the domains and trade mark. It is your business, so it should be a name that you can relate/like because at the end of the day, it is you that has to sell the services.

I would think more carefully about your intended market and the services you are likely to offer. If you are unlikely to do remote IT diagnosis then suggest a more local name if you are targeting individual consumers.

Do you have a direct competitor in mind? If so, I would suggest you research and review their website to get an idea how they have named themselves.

Well, they could if they were being malicious, but even then, why does it matter?

A name, or a domain name does not a business make. Before you launch your business, the name has no value.

If someone else registers the domain before you, just pick a different TLD.

It's not necessary to use your name or something that really objects what your doing. Sometimes using combined initials of your name children or things related to you can produce an awesome name. What matters is that it should be simple and easy to remember

I can see where you are coming from but value, (and motive) are subjective. I am only sharing with you my 25 years of being in business and having experienced such issues.

You could pick another TLD but why would a business have similar domains with a different TLD? This is likely to drive your genuine custom to the other domain when they type in the incorrect TLD.

Be unique, easy to remember, and quick to find, is key.

If you are a small business targeting corporate clients, I think it's useful to have a memorable name, even if it is not related to what you do. There are lots of strange and funky company names in the IT industry for that reason: Fat Beehive, Lumpy Lemon, Purple Matrix, Onyx, Blue Lizard for instance. When you start up and you're trying to punch above your weight, you might not get the first few pitches, but if you are good enough, some of the people you pitch to might remember you and call you back later, possibly when they move on to another company.

If your target audience is private individuals with small occasional needs, then it does not matter so much, and I agree that a name that comes across as pretentious could put some of those individuals off.

The odd names can work, I used to deal with a medium sized computer hosting & PR company called Blue Satsuma. The odd compbination of words also makes domain names and social media easier to come by.

Perhaps an odd name combined with a word like 'tech' or 'support' or 'IT' could work.

I would look for a play on words also having what you do in the name can be key as if you have it in your domain name its gives you a slight advantage in the search engine algorithm
No it doesn’t. Used to but not anymore.
