I'm having a bit of trouble choosing a business name, I picked one which was perfect however have since found someone else is already trading under a vert similar name! So to risk confusion and probelms later on I think it's best to change my name now! However the name I choose (crafted elegance stationery) was just perfect and now I'm really struggling for a name? I will be making handmade cards and hopefully wedding/christening stationery as well as book marks etc so don't really want to focus on the word card as this leaves me limited! Does anyone have a good suggestions of a good nMenthT will get me off the ground, that isn't already being see and has a available domain name?

Thanks in advance
Nikki

The reasons for not using my real name is im due to get married soon so dont want the hassle of choosing which name and i think Nikki is pretty boring, i want something that is going to attract peoples attention! :) if i can find one that is :(

Nikki, Laura Ashley is a pretty boring name but seems to work.

You offer handmade products which is a very personal business, why shouldnt you use your name?

What would your marrried name be? Why dont you think that that name could become a brand?

I dont like the thought of using my whole name really, Its just not something i like the thought of doing, my first and second name is Nikita-Marie, but Nikki-Marie Stationery sounds a bit run of the mill boring and if im honest i would probally glaze across of business with a name like that as it wouldnt appear as profesh as say "Clintons Cards" for example. I also think that if i was to have that name, its not catchy enouhg in my opinion to stick in someones mind.

14A - There is already a company trading as Niki's Nik Naks which for me is to simular i think it would only cause problems.

SusanP - I agree with what that link says. I personallyt just think its a lot of hassle. Espically as i am due to get married anyway. I would just prefer to have something catcher than my name.

Hey Nikki, I followed and commented on your other thread. First of all well done on making the difficult decision to rethink your business name, I know you have put a lot of work into that name already but I am sure this is for the best.

I like the suggestion others have made that you use your name as your brand and I completely understand your concerns. Why not get the best of both worlds by using a fabricated name? There are numerous companies that have created a fictitious person as their brand, you could do the same.

Laura Ashley is a very strong brand, something along those lines would be great. Just be aware that a person's name will take more time to promote as it isn't immediately obvious what your company does.

I have to agree with susanp. I originally liked the idea of Knick Knacks but as i said there is someone very simular doing something in the same sector already trading, and as susan said i liked the name crafte elegance as it was classy (in my opinion) and professional i dont think knick nacks had that edge, but im very greatful for the suggestions!

Susan, that may be true but a nick nack isn't a trinket to me, it's a term for craft related items or things home-made.

Well, I think more people are going to agree with the Oxford English Dictionary definition than what it means to you. This is it:

"any curious or pleasing trifle more for ornament than use; a trinket, gimcrack, kickshaw"

If Crafted Elegance Stationery was perfect and reflected the type of products you make, then anything based on the word knick-knacks can't be right. Knick-knacks are not elegant. A knick-knack is a tawdry trinket.

    Totally agree!

    What about....

    Paper Panache
    or Passion Panache
    or Created Cards
    or Stationery with Style

    Passion Panache
    Handmade Stationery with Style
