SEO is one of the most important methods to increase traffic. And content is another important factor for communities. Make sure your site has some high quality and attracting content. You can also try forum posting, guest posting, etc.

If you could afford to shell out a few then you could also do online advertising like Google Adwords or Facebook ads. Carefully choose your target audience for your ads.

You could also increase your business' exposure in your networks. Comment to some posts of your followers that are related to your business. The more you get your name out there, the better. Of course, be careful not to make each post or comment as spam!

All the best,
Erik

Social media is a great way that can help you drive traffic and visitors to your site. One of the most important in a website is its content. Having a unique, informative and helpful content can also get you lots of visitors. Readers my refer your site to their friends, family and colleagues.

Hi!

Try to use SMM, work with public, engage in conversations, show that you really care about their opinions. You say that you are not getting good results.

Remember that it's a matter of time, work hard and you'll receive results.

People should trust you and that's a long way to win it.

Good luck and never give up!

The most popular ways to drive traffic to a site is social media (including paid methods like Facebook ads) and PPC.

As for social media, I can recommend that you not only update your pages on a regular basis, but also join relevant groups and participate in conversations there. Try to provide some input to group discussions and this will drive additional traffic to your site.

As for improving customer engagement, you may check this source - http://www.localvisibilitysystem.com/blog/. Phil Rozek gives a lot of helpful advice on local SEO, and in particular on how to get more customer reviews. And there are also interesting articles about blogging for a local business.

You could try PPC, SEO Blogging and forum posting, also try to produce engaging content, you could try to research a few niches on twitter and facebook etc. and see if it gets results (one example is animals, it's also something advertisers frequently use); you could also try to give advice, just try to avoid coming accross as begging.

Really? For me, Google is the single largest driver of traffic. (Assuming you're not including PPC)

Social is growing as a % but search is still the best place to gain traffic (and customers!)

Yeah Google seems to be biggest driver from what I've seen (Google+), I can't remember the actual users but it is significantly higher then facebook if I recall.

Sure, I absolutely agree! I mean, besides organic traffic from search engines, social media and PPC are good for traffic generation. And as it usually takes some time until SEO starts delivering results, it makes sense for new sites to use PPC and social media at early stages. That's what I wanted to say, but you're right, nothing beats Google when it comes to driving traffic :)

For your market and target audience I would not recommend SEO as it will take you a long time to see visitors from SEO based promotions for your keywords. This being said as Im an SEO guy Im not a fan of PPC marketing. I would go down the social media route but try to create a social following instead of social ads.

Also think about ads or links on other sites other than facebook/Google. Banner ads will convert well if you get one on another website that is related to your site but maybe their site is only for information purposes whereas yours is business based.

So for a community based website focused on the latest trends that's creating more and more content exponentially you wouldn't recommend SEO? Lol.

If this website is well optimized and the OP is pushing out daily unique content on the latest trends as she stated then it should pick up plenty Organic traffic. Something wrong if not.

Hi Jonathan...

Something is seriously going wrong and i am not able to identify it.

To Others members - Should i put my website URL here or i may b banned by the administrators of this forum ?

It heavily depends on the site.

One site I've been working on lately gets under 8% of it's traffic from Search Engines and over 50% from affiliates.

Well that likely means the website is under performing and being outranked in Organic search as the affiliates will most likely be driving traffic to their own websites from Google...
