I want to come up with a name for a fantasy football website, finding it really hard because most domain names seem to be taken! Would really appreciate any names you can throw at me.

Thanks in advance

A good idea to include 'fantasy football' in the name as Zigojacko suggested, but maybe with another word to differentiate it. So depending on what you're offering, maybe something like advancedfantasyfootball.co.uk or easyfantasyfootball.co.uk.

Another way to stand out in a crowded pitch is to use similar but slightly different terms or word order: premierleaguefantasy.co.uk or ultimate footballfantasy.co.uk or eatsleepdreamfootball.co.uk Alliteration is also good: fantasticfantasyfootball.co.uk.

Using a dotcom is also a good idea (register both .com and .co.uk if you can). However, if someone else has the .com, I wouldn't go for the same name but with .co.uk

I did a quick check on some names that popped into my head - all registered. Most will be junk domains, registered but never had content.

One option is to think about what name you would really like - and buy it from the current owner.

Domains with numbers are unfasionable in most markets; and hence cheap. An exception is gambling where many of the big names are number based. Football and gambling have an affinity, so your target market wouldn't bat an eyelid when they see some numbers in a domain name.

For example football247, football365 (actually forget about that one - it's owned by Sky) 123footie etc. football666 would surely appeal to the niche market of death metal armchair footballers :)

A good name (not awsome, but good enough) should be acheivable for under £1000, sometimes a whole lot less. Contact owner (details through nominet) and negotiate.
Another option is to buy at auction, Sedo is ok.

In any case I'd try and keep the domain as short as possible - long domains just look weird on branding.

have you tried to get ideas from Google keywords related to fantasy football ?
Google Keyword Planner lets you see which words people type for their search, and suggests good keyword ideas.
In this case you could use this tool by entering "fantasy football" and see all the related monthly searches, so that you can see what people expect as a good domain name!

Feel free to PM me if you need help with the Google Keyword Planner.
