Need a cheap pallet & wrap service

Hi.

I've got a delivery to make, but it's quite a bit of stuff, so I'm going to have to send it by pallet (half a pallet's worth of gear).

I've never done this before. I don't have a pallet, or wrap, so I'm looking for a company that offers a pallet & wrap service, but I don't know how it works and can't find a description of the service on any of the websites....

Anyone used this before? Do I box up everything ready to go, then the vehicle arrives and wraps all the boxes onto the pallet? or do they drop off the pallet & wrap roll & come back for it? I've no idea.

Thanks.

You will need to have the pallet wrapped in preparation; the driver will load onto the vehicle.

Buy a roll of industrial shrink-wrap - like cling-film but thicker, wider, and longer (obligatory oo-err missus!) and do it yourself. Pull it tight on each side as you wrap to ensure it works as designed.

Odd pallets are all over the place - use initiative! If this was just before Nov 5th, you could have knicked one from the local bonfire - good opportunity to beat up a few Boy Scouts at the same time.

But isn't that then just a normal pallet service?

The pallet and wrap service indicates surely that they provide the pallet and wrap? It adds £12 - £15 to the quote - which I'm happy to pay as I won't have time to source a pallet and roll of industrial clingfilm.... I just need to know how the P&W service works.... not regular pallet shipping, thanks.....

I'd guess whoever is quoting you the £15 to wrap and supply a pallet will be able to tell you how it works. Is there no info when you get the quote/on their website?

No, can't see the details, that's why I was asking... I was hoping to find someone on here who's actually used this type of service before. I've emailed a couple of firms but heard nothing back yet.....

Ps you dont need an expert to wrap in film. Start at the bottom tying the loose end of the film to the pallet corner. Then wrap film horizontally around pallet ensuring the first complete wrap covers bothe the edge of the pallet and the contents. Wrap tightly including the top. When done just tuck loose end of film in to another part of the pallet.

Thanks, I wouldn't struggle wrapping the load, but I would struggle with a pallet. I don't drive, so I've no way of going and getting one. By the time I factor a taxi to go collect the pallet, and the cost of the wrap, it's not worth the inconvenience, when I can use the pallet & wrap service..... once I find out what that is. Still waiting for firms to get back to me.....
