Previously I was self-employed and so was making the class 2 national insurance contributions via a monthly direct debit.
However, at the start of the current tax year I started a limited company and began paying myself a salary and dividend through the company. As I have been paying myself a wage to keep myself under the tax threshold, class 1 national insurance contributions have only begun to be deducted when I run Payroll.
However, all this time I've been a director of a limited company, I have continued to make the class 2 national insurance contributions I setup when I was a sole trader.
Is this right or should I no longer be paying class 2? If I shouldn't be paying it then am I able to get what I have paid refunded?
