Name

So I'm thinking of starting a new design company (to trade under mine). Its going to focus on graphic design. I don't want something that sounds too corporate. Want something a little different. Something a bit more young (as I'm a young person myself). Was thinking of calling it Mango Monkey Design. But anywho, what does the name conger up in your mind? Does it sound a little silly? A little Childish? Or does it sound quite clever, and different? Would you trust a company called Mango Monkey Design to design your logo, or leaflets or the like?

Thanks for all your help.

It's a fine name for a modern design company. Whether people will hire your services depends largely upon you demonstrating your skills, in your portfolio, on your website - and of course, 'being found' when people look for what you supply .....

Well, name doesn't really count at all if your costumers have always been satisfied of your services then expected that Mango Monkey Design will always be the first choice to be recommended. Get into the action first, then make it better, then the name will excel no matter how stinky it sounds.

Mango Monkey Design is something funny to hear though it is a unique one so can be familiarize well.

Think hard about what you want to be found for.
I would suggest 'design'.

I'd guess that many more people would look for design services; website design, logo design, graphic design, leaflet design, etc than media.

Having that search term word within your company name, website url, mentioned many times through your page text etc will definitely help you to be found more often.

Of course, if my assumption about what you do is wrong, and you have some kind of unique selling point (USP) for media, then call yourself media and work that word.

NB tapes, discs, memory cards, paper, TV, radio, film and newspapers are all media, I suspect that word in your name would lead to a more clouded battlefield .....

Here comes grumpy!

Monkey: Webmonkey, Blue Monkey, Greasemonkey, Monkey daemon...
Google finds 5,360,000 for "Monkey web"

Mango: only 464,000 on the Big G for "mango monkey", but lots of mangoes, 2,700,000 for "mango web"; Mango web solutions, Mango Web Design, Blue Mango Web Design. (Also Mango Mutt, a competitor of mine...VNBNC*)

Personally I think the wacky, funky bit of fruit and of animal names is waning a bit, just like reflections of words in Web 2.0 banners: they were great but are getting a tad being-there-done-that.

Just my €0.03 worth

personally i like it it has a nice chilled out sound to it, and its going to lodge in your brain, and personally i like companys with animals in the name as i feel it adds some charecture to your company (my buisness partner and i decided on the Hungry Hedghog Kitchen for our catering company) but yes go with design not media in my view as it doesnt roll off the tounge as easliy.
