Name for Business Needed

Hey All,

Essex Jet Wash has done good in the summer but now the colder weather is coming im not getting as much work so am going back to what I previously dabbled with and am going to take it that bit more serious.

When working with fireplaces I occassionally made the odd table for sale in the showroom and want to push it on to a proper business so need a quality name and tag line.

Here's an example of a octagon table I made a few yrs back http://twitpic.com/2wtyj5

The tables are made from Portuguese Limestone.

Any questions be glad to answer them.

Thanks

Tom

So you make tables and want a name for it?

TableMaker
Tables
Kalooki Tbales

Errm, a bit confused as to what you actually do; is it table making, driveway cleaning, fireplaces?? Surely there needs to be a focus to make one work well for you.

I think you should emphasise exactly what it is that you make (which I think looks good, by the way) so call it...

Portuguese Limestone Tables

and grap the web domain with the same name while you're at it.

Good point. Once you have decided upon a company name make sure the domain name hasn't been taken and then secure it on at least .co.uk / .com to protect the brand on top level.

Tagline could be something like Back to the Stone Age, or Living in the Stone Age.

Do you make only tables? And are they always made of Portuguese limestone? If not, you don't want those words in your name. Perhaps something more general involving Garden Furniture eg Rosetta Garden Furniture (Rosetta will suggest stonework, even though the Rosetta Stone is granite, not limestone), Touchstone Garden Furniture, Dolomite Designs, Continental Stone Designs.

Thanks all for replying,

The tables will primarily be in Limestone but some also will be made out of granite and Im not just making tables as have made couple of money boxes and candle holders in the past, Susan I did like the Rosetta idea so thought maybe:

Rosetta Designs
Stoneage Designs
Rosetta Furniture
Stoneage Furniture

The furniture ones are easier to get the .co.uk web address so am edging towards them but anymore advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I sort of like the "Stoneage" bit but from a SEO point of view the "Designs" bit may not get the hits your after?
If I had already landed on your site (maybe by accident) I would know immediately from your content what you do, and in all probability would make sense to me but;

Or put it another way...

Would you (without being aware of the "stoneage design" brand) pop "stoneage designs" into the search engine if you were looking for stone furniture carvings?

Unless you are an established brand you would be better off using terms such as: stone furniture and carvings in your keywords - tell people what you do rather than have them guess and only find you by accident.

Personally I would do a range of stone furniture (if thats how its described) and build on branding by referring to a "range" of tables for example by a generic term: Kalooki Tables - Hand crafted by stonefurniturecarvings.co.uk

btw that ones up for grabs ;)

Good luck.

I see what ya saying laguna but people have trouble with kalooki so could go with Rosetta Tables as I do like the name and then have handcrafted by stone_furniture.co.uk as like you said better to have a name with good key words as the web address.
Cheers

Glad you got the gist of what I was trying to say about the importance of keywords.
Personally I would stay away from the brand name rosetta and the keyword stone in the same sentence, actually I would avoid the association completely!

"Rosetta stone" for example is commonly associated the world's #1 language-learning software. As such you will have a mammoth if not impossible task on your hands competing against that in the SERPS.

I like kalooki even more now... hope you can see why that is?

Thanks Oliver, McGovern and Laguna,
So our options are:
Kalooki Stone - They rock
Kalooki Stone Furniture - Built to last a lifetime
and I take it you mean less people who are familar with the name and have trouble pronouncing it will stick in mind more and web address es are free
Cheers

Guys - how about thinking of the web and business name seperately.

You can register loads of relevant domains and point them to the main one.

Sooooo....

Kalooki (just that)

Set in Stone (Tag line)

You could get some great branding with a simple name... going for 2 or 3 words and you'll get lost in with all the others...
