Music websites

I was just having a gander around the web at some music websites for inspiration on a project and to be honest, for what the designers are paid, some of the websites are pretty poor.

What do you think of these:

http://www.takethat.com/ <<< just lots of banners
http://www.westlife.com/ << just a blog site
http://www.adele.tv/ <<< looks very similar to a Marks and Spencers website
http://www.simplyred.com/ <<< gotta love the adsense advert at the bottom!

I bet these websites cost a few bob more than £200 but apart from the photos they look pretty rubbish imo. Do they know something we don't about web design?

Mostly blog sites so they're simple and easy to maintain. I thought the Take That one was over the top and what's with those banners loading as you scrolled....just annoying.

what about this one ?

Crikey that's pretty shambolic.

I just assumed that, being millionaires and having thousands of fans, they would have a dedicated website with a dedicated webmaster keeping it up to date.

They put more effort in to the Katie Price website, at least it has some design to it.
