music at work

hey all ,
We have a radio at work that can have anything plugged into it, any mp3 player. my boss said the stereo is fair play any one can play what they want on it but does really let u know when hes not liking ur music but thats beside the point what i want to know is there any legal standing for me to ask just for the radio to be on and nothing else or even the radio be turnd off .
the radio at times is well above 130 db too but health and saftey in uk dont seem to have a problem with that .

Does he have a license to play music in the work place? If not, then the radio shouldn't be on anyway.

With respect, if that's the only thing you have to worry about, you are a very lucky person. Have you really gone to the trouble of using a meter to measure the sound? Was this at source or from your work station?

The workplace is for everyone, and who is to say that others will like your choice of radio station? If the music bothers you, get ear plugs - it may well motivate others.

Or, as has been mentioned - dob him into the PRS and the whole team will suffer when he has to switch it off.

As for him "not liking your music" I suspect this is the actual crux of the matter.
