MTD for VAT

Our accountant has been filing VAT for us for the last few years using their gateway ID, and we recently decided to begin filing our own.

I'm going round in circles trying to find the link to actually register our company for MTD for VAT, and every time I come back to the same link - which everyone (including the accountants) say is where we register - does anyone know what i'm missing exactly? I can't for the life of me see a 'sign up' or get started type of button, just an endless loop of pages which lead back to square one.

If you've already got a Government Gateway account you generally just need to give your software authority. What software are you using?

    Try here:

There is a section for using an agent but in there there is a second paragraph which says:

If you’re using an agent, you can still sign up for a VAT online account when you receive your VAT number (select option ‘VAT submit returns’).

Appreciate the help, though that link led me to creating a new gov gateway id - which I don't need. I've been down that rabbit hole a couple of times and ended up at square one.

We use Sage and it could be idiot proof because I use it but what do you recommend?

I generally recommend FreeAgent or Accounts Portal because I know both well, they both work well and clients like them but it depends on your specific requirements.
