Moving website hosting from US to UK - any effect on SERPs

Hi

I have found out that my .com website is hosted in the US - having looked into this I understand that this can have a negative effect on Google UK search results.

I can get the hosting moved to a UK server but before I do I would be interested to know in what effects I might see in Google SERPs, Crawl etc in both the short term and long term. We are having a bit of a tidy up of the site so it is already ina bit of turmoil so now may well be the right time to make the change.

Yes - Google location is set to UK, but I think I should move the hosting because a) Google Geo is OK but it only affects Google SERPs (big as they are Google aren't the only game in town) and b) my hosting company operates in US & UK and will move the hosting at no charge & since it is all the same company I guess the risks are reduced

Thanks

Hi, Kinderpods

In my own experiences, hosting companies would not have an impact on the SERP efforts if only your pages are loaded speedy enough. :)
The main factors in deciding your SERP position for your keywords would be page contents and backlinks.

Have a nice day,

Not to worry on this part, if you are moving on UK server surely your site will start resolving from UK IP and it will help you more in google.co.uk rather than affecting your site.
Just make sure the server speed on which you are hosting your site is good enough.

May happen that later in the future that you want to change the name of your domain registrar, you need to transfer a domain name on a new web server . Thus, it is recommended that you ensure that the site hosting provider providing back-up facility is comfortable and allows you to be able to transfer a domain name.
Transfer a domain name can only take place if initiated by the registrar of new domain names so, what you should do is just go to the website or calling the new applicants to begin the transfer of the domain name for your business website. Some registrar websites have domain names that allow automatic transfer "domain transfer" to your website.
