I have just got a new laptop and, when using it at my desk I use a proper mouse. The laptop uses Windows 10. The mouse pointer keeps leaping around the desktop for no apparent reason - for example, while typing on here it keeps wandering up to the bookmarks tab and opening it, so I am no longer able to type until I recover the mouse onto the app I am using. Any ideas?

I think I may know what is going wrong - in typing I am touching the toughpad. Can I disable the touchpad when I use the uSB connected mouse?

I have had issues like this with trackpads that appear to be caused by the laptop heating up and activating the trackpad making it jump all over the place and click on links and also activating the hot key to enable and disable the trackpad (due to it being double click on the top corner).

I had it looked at by the Companies field technicians too no avail (and no charge as was in Guarantee period). In the end I had to disable the Trackpad within the Devices manager and use an external mouse at all times.

Also the advantage with Logitech is if you wish to change Keyboard or mouse in the future you can still use the same receiver and add the new device via their software (also if you lose the receiver you can buy a new receiver without the Keyboard and Mouse becoming obsolete)

It's USB. I have set up that the trackpad is disabled whenever the USB mouse is in use, but the prpoblem still happens occasionally. I've learnt to live with it.
