Until recently I didn't display my printing prices online, however after reading a lot on the forum about up front info for visitors I added this.

On looking at my webstats today for Oct it appears to be the most popular page after the usual entry pages, which must tell us something people do want to know your pricing. I intend expanding these pages and use them to encourage visitors to other pages.

Next task is to allow them to buy online, however working alone it's difficult finding time to nail down the scope of these various tasks.

I agree putting prices on your website is a good idea. Having personal experience with looking for services over the Internet, it is very frustrating to find no prices online.

Also in the field I am looking at, none of my competitors have prices available online, hopefully this is a good thing for me.

I love your work William! My partner Mark had a spell of working on landscape photography and is currently back working on art landscapes.
B&W images are, for me, the most powerful but your colour work is also spectacular.

I couldn't find your prices on your site - perhaps I was looking in the wrong place? Having an online store should potentially make quite a difference to you so it's certainly worth looking into.

Hi Carol, thank you for your kind words, I have only priced the printing services at the moment.

I need to have my "buy it now" facility and payment aspects ready for my fine art prints, hopefully that will be very soon.

Don't mean to put a dampener on things but some of your web traffic will undoubtedly be from competitors and getting your pricing info is valuble information to them.

We prefer to provide a quotation direct to a customer as it opens the lines of communication anyway (maybe they want to tweak what they want or are looking for something "non standard"). We work mainly on referals but use our site to provide an overview of what we do.

Obviously we are in a completely different business, so perhaps it's horses for courses.

We are actually looking for product photographers as, although until now we've been doing photography ourselves, logistics and quality require us to at least be prepared for when the need for a professional crops up.

I realise that there are many variables which affect prices but could you give me a rough idea of your daily rates and how many images (for this excercise lets use a set of three vases as an 'image') you would expect to generate per day.

If your just looking for a short term solution, why not integrate paypal shopping cart into your site. I have done this now to improve my sales, you can see it up and running later when I officially launch my new site.

This is an interesting thread and is something I considered recently. I discovered that my Fees page was the second most visited page and yet no-one contacted me for a quote.

I talked to several friends and many colleagues and got mixed opinions - some believed that many of the hits would be competitors, as others have expressed here. Others gave the opinion that they would prefer to know my charges up front, as they would always leave a website that didn't display prices.

After weighing it all up I have put my prices on my website for a trial period to see if that encourages people to make contact. We'll see what happens.
