Aged 7 and at my first year of junior school there was one of the many fundraiser none uniform days that occur through the year. In exchange for 50p you were able to go to school in your regular clothes, or on this occasion in fancy dress.
I was but a boy and an avid fan of WWF, and decided to go dressed as steroid enhanced wrestler The Ultimate Warrior. My costume consisted of a lipstick mask drawn on my face, swimming trunks, a pair of frog eye wellies and long coloured laces tied around my' ahem, biceps.
I didn't look exactly like him, but any wrestling fan (as all boys my age were) would know who I was supposed to be.
As I am sure you have guessed by now, I was a week early. My parents worked during the day so couldn't come and pick me up so I had to wait until after first break, sat among school uniform all morning, and then go and fish through the smelly lost property bin to find something warmer than swimming trunks to wear.
