If its the business in your signature you will be much better off contacting people direct rather than advertising in publications etc. Traditional advertising, imo, will be a waste of money.

Would you suggest making contact face to face, phoning local companies & organisations, or sending information packs/letters.

Thanks stretchy.

Any of the above. You could call or write to local trades and painters to make them aware of what you do, ask local builders merchants if they would put any enquiries your way if they don't hire towers themselves, pop in to access hire places who do MEWP's and ask if they would mind forming a mutually beneficial alliance with you, leaflet homes who have recently applied for planning which may require access equipment, call local landscapers and tree surgeons to explain how beneficial your products are for hedge cutting work.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Don't waste money on untargeted advertising, speak directly to potential customers, and those people who may be able to pass work your way.
