Moonfruit v MrSite

Hello All

We are in the process of rebranding and we would like to get a small website up and running. It really is just an "about us" sort of thing so nothing fancy. Our main things are - we would like at least 3 email addresses, 5 pages and the ability to add our own photos rather than using stock ones.

We also want to buy our own domain name.

Has anyone had any experience of either of Moonfruit (standard) or Mr Site (standard)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Cora
My experience with Mr Site is they are very inexpensive but can limit you as to how the site does in search engines. But a bargain should you just want a basic brochure site. If your budget allows we offer a Web Starter Pro for £499. This site will have CMS and be expandable so will last you some years. Go to Britnett.co.uk and ask for a info sheet on Website Starter Pro.

All the best - Paul.

If you are considering Moonfruit and Mr Site, you should also consider the free Microsoft Office Live sitebuilder (I mention Office Live, and how you can google for other UK sites using it, in a recent post), and perhaps even the hosted domain offering from wordpress.com (although I'm not sure whether Wordpress provide their own email hosting too, you can configure your domain to use Google Apps email).

Depends entirely on your budget and what you intend to do with the website over the next 12 - 18 months.

If it's going to remain a static, basic, plain site. You can use Mr Site as it has been recommended by the Princes Trust on a few occassions

If you are thinking that in 12 months you may want to add a few pages or a youtube video link or a more bespoke design you may well be better going for a professionally built html/css site. These need not cost the earth and are as expandable as your imagination.

You can have one built with a content management system and a few pages for around £200 - £300 (includes hosting and domain) as long as it's nice and basic, nothing too over the top and you only want to change text and images, not the entire design every week.
