Modern marketing?

Hi everyone.
It's probably a question everyone has seen a few times but what are new advertising methods? I currently intergrate social media eg. I'm doing a free days work at a well known dogs trust for some social media exposure next week but I am struggling on ideas or should I stick with traditional methods?. Your business type is a very cheap and easy one to market. Be careful not to over think it and spend money unnecessarily.
