Mobile Phone Contract & Dissolved Company

Hi All!

I was wondering whether any of you knew the answer to this one?

I had a company which has now been dissolved, however, when the company was trading we took out 3 year mobile phone contracts (damn iPhone's!).

A year and a half down the line, I would like to now cancel the contract on the mobile phone, I have been paying it up until now even though the company has been dissolved, as friends also call me on it.

What I want to know is whether the contract is with me or the company and if it is the later, would I still have to pay the remaining months of line rental too terminate the contract or can I just walk away?

I look forward to your replies

When was the company dissolved.. and how have you been paying " a year and a half down the line"?

Should you not have informed the mobile company that the company had been dissolved?

If the contract is 100% in the company's name.. then you don't have a problem!!..

Contact the mobile company and ask:)

I know it is not good, but the mobile phone was the least of my problems!

The bill is addressed to me as the director of the company to the company name and address, so from what you are saying, I should be ok. Just phone them up, say its dissolved and never pay another penny??

ermm .. no.. have a look at the Contract..

I have a mobile phone contract.. the bill is addressed to me as the co. director to the company name and address... but am sure that when I signed the contract.. I believe i have also signed a personal guarantee. Mobile companies tend to do this:)

This could either mean that the bill /agreement are addressed to the company c/o Joe Bloggs, or that they are addressed to you personally, but the first line of your address is ABC Ltd.

Do you want to keep the phone/number? Are you happy with the rest of the contract period? If so then ask them if you can transfer it into your own name (if it isn't already). If you want to ditch the contract and keep the phone (which many people seem to want to do) then you need to either have a legal qualification yourself or want to pay in advice more than what serving out the rest of the contract would cost you.
