Mobile Catering - Insuring a towing vehicle

Is anybody able to recommend an insurance provider for my towing vehicle? It'll be mostly for general use but also needs to be covered to pull a catering trailer on occasion once I'm up & running.
Most of the insurers I've spoken to won't cover me as soon as I mention the catering trailer. Thanks in advance

How does the weights compare, there are limits by law on what weight a vehicle can tow depending on the weight of the towing car

Hi Chris, there's no problem with the weight as the trailer weighs less than 85% of the towing vehicle. The issue I'm having is that whilst plenty of insurers will cover the trailer itself & it's contents, very few cover towing vehicles when pulling a catering trailer

I would contact a broker and let them solve the problem with all their contacts or NFU who are used to trailers from farms etc.

Thanks Chris, I spoke with a few brokers yesterday & have now had a couple of quotes back, albeit expensive ones. I hadn't thought of the NFU though so I'll try them today, thanks again

Hi Mike, I am in the same situation as you, trying to find insurance for my towing vehicle. Did you have any luck?

Hi Justlin, the company I went with in the end are called Giles Insurance who were the cheapest after a long search. Their number is 01628 667707.

We are with More Than commercial car insurance - covers our 4WD towing a large box trailer - reasonable price. Doesn't cover the trailer if not attached to vehicle or in a locked garage/pound.
