I have been offered a very old caravan at a bargain price, looks wise its horrible and inside could do with a very good clean. You would not want to sleep or eat from it the way it currently is. The price is £200 for the caravan itself.
I have wanted to start a mobile catering business for a long time now, i just have not had any spare money to start it, i have most of the things i would need to actually cook the food.
This is what i currently have.
Electric griddle, hob & bain marie, a small table top fridge.
So in regards to the inspection to legally trade and serve food from this caravan, can you give me some ideas what i would have to do to it? I can remove everything from the caravan and build a small sized kitchen with nice table tops etc. In regards to the hot and cold water, i have seen a device on amazon for £80 that would take care of this aspect.
I do not want to use this caravan to sell food directly to the public, it would be strictly for online orders only, i main job is web design and SEO so i am confident i can manage to build up a good customer base.
I also know a man that would let me use his car park, which is hidden and off road to park the van and cook the food for a small amount of weekly rent.
Any tips? Do you think a unit such as a caravan would pass a food safety inspection? I would not be using gas, i would use a LPG generator or petrol to power the appliances and lights etc.
