So I've finally decided to take the plunge and create an App to provide an interactive service for our customers.

Where to start?!

I have extensive experience of web based development so I think I have the necessary geek quota, any recommendations of development environments, books, forums etc gratefully received

Well using web background your best bet is to look at things like appcelerator titanium or phonegap.

There also mobile optimised frameworks like jquery mobile.

I would also recommend getting an Adobe Creative subscription for around £30 a month you get full versions of Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc but Dreamweaver CS6 now has instant build phonegap built in. For basic corporate app development it makes life pretty easy to deploy across platforms.....

Dreamweaver helps alot to create the application .it is the tool that is used currently for the website desigining .
