Mini Laptop Recommendation

I'm looking for a 'mini' laptop with a screen size less than 9" basically for processing email via Outlook Express (or similar).

Web access and Word, Excel (or similar) will be required occasionally but no other software will be run on it.

Any recommendations for around the £200 mark?

(Just can't get on with using a mobile for this purpose, probably too old :redface: )

What your after is a netbook - smaller, lighter, no dvd drive etc.

recently they have had a lot of good deals on refurbished netbooks for about £180 to £250 mark for the top-spec ones.

I'd recommend actually looking at a few and trying out the keyboards.

If you are a touch typist, or even a partial touch typist, you might find the keyboards on the really small netbooks frustrating to use.

This is a good idea. Last time I visited the comet on Princess Street (Edinburgh) they had quite a good selection of laptops and netbooks - prices weren't too bad either!

Also, most have a lot smaller memories than laptops, so you may be better using gmail & open office as opposed to filling it with the MSOffice suite.

If you want it for "out & about" then although a bit fiddlier for typing (which i totally agree with) its a neat solution.

I looked around and eventually chose a slightly larger model, with 10" screen, a eee XP model (though in retrospect a Linux version would have been slightly cheaper and just as appropriate, I think). I couldn't type comfortably on the smaller ones.
