I use tesco fuel and need to post a few milage payments through the company accounts for client visits.

I collect clubcard points on fuel. I understand for company purchases it's a benefit in kind but what about for fuel? Do I need to deduct the clubcard payments? As I understand it the mileage payments are scheduled rates and indifferent to what was actually paid for it.

If you are paying for fuel through your personal account and claiming mileage for business miles, then the club card points would not come into it.

If you are paying for fuel paid for a personal car, that you use in part for business travel, and pay for it through your business bank account. The fuel paid would go to drawings if you are a sole trader or directors loan if you are a limited company as the business does not own the car. You then claim mileage allowance at 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and 25p per mile thereafter, each year. Again the club card payments do not come into it.

All this is if the car is NOT owned by the business, but by you personally.

ESSO will give Tesco Clubcard points at most, if not all of their filling stations even when one uses a discounted commercial vehicle "Platts Plus" fuel card.

No-one I know would consider the pecuniary advantage to be gained from a loyalty card to be "income".

Maybe I am wrong but I certainly don't intend asking drivers to declare their clubcard statements so that my accounts staff can spend hours working out which points come from fuel, and which come from buying disposable nappies or groceries

i presume all fuel cards have a minimum transaction ammount/membership fee which will be more costly for us who do very few miles. We just had an event in northhampton where we had to travel back and forth racking up 320 miles. But that was a one off.
