Microsoft office for mac 2011

Hiya

Some advice please - I need to purchase a new version of Microsoft Office - I notice 2011 is now out. Is this compatible with lower versions? My clients work on 2007 and lower so want to make sure before I buy!

Yes, documents etc can be saved in the older formats.

2007 was the big doument change from doc to docx (xml based format) so no issues - and microsoft build in converters to their updates, so most old versions can read new version formats anyway

Just remember that office 2011 for Mac will not connect to an exchange 2003, it will only connect to exchange 2007 and above.

It's a big improvement over 2008, Entourage which used to take about a minute to open has been replaced by Outlook which opens almost instantly.

Only thing missing is you can't synch with mobileme, although I believe it's coming in an update.

Hi if you are saying that it is compatible with any exchange below 2007 then I would check out the Office Mac site as it states the below.

System Requirements for Microsoft Office for Mac 2011
•A Mac computer with an Intel processor.
•Mac OS X version 10.5.8 or later.
•1 GB of RAM recommended.
•2.5 GB of available hard disk space.
•HFS+ hard disk format (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Plus).
•DVD drive or connection to a local area network (if installing over a network).
•1280 x 800 or higher resolution monitor.

•Outlook® and certain features require Internet access (fees may apply).
