Microphone for iPhone?

I've been invited to produce a 5 minute video about myself and my business for an archive. I have an iPhone for filming and iMovies for editing. Can anybody recommend a microphone for half decent sound, that'll work with my iPhone. It would be good if it would also work with my iMac for dubbing some narration over the top.

Thanks

Røde make a Smartlav+ lab mic with a TRRS connector to use with your phone or computer (you might need an adaptor for the phone if it’s one of the newer models without a headphone jack).
The problem with recording the video and sound with your phone is that unless your doing it really close VLOG style you’ll need an extension cable, or something like the Go system to do it remote.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of only filming myself a little and the rest being shots of my studio space Etc. with narration. I have a selfie stick for film of me. I guess the remote microphones start getting pricey? I think I can just use the iphone for recording the narration - the iMac's fan makes a bit of noise. The other videos are professional looking and I'll have to do quite well. I have some experience with editing for fun in iMovie so that'll help.

Record the narration separately using some regular mic like an SM58 from Shure straight into the audio software Reaper loaded onto the iMac. You will probably need a mic-pre-amp regardless of what you use. Reaper will also do the video editing, though there are all kinds of other good and free video/audio software packages around.

Selfie-stick is a bit yuk! Get someone to film you and remember that video is always 16:9 and not 9:16 - i.e. landscape, not portrait!

It really depends on your environment. The new iPhones are so good you may get away with just that if you have good lighting and not too much background noise. For the voice over make sure everything is closed except iMovie. There’s no reason the fans should be that bad under low load.

I recorded something out on a rugby pitch with a motorway in the background. We didn’t have lav mics and the motorway noise was really bad in the camera shotgun mic. We were saved by a back-up audio recording being done on an iPhone in guy’s breast pocket.
