Merchant banking vs Till roll discrepancies

Hi there,

I have been going through my till roll and comparing it to my merchant statements (money in bank by dates) not Z/X reports and there is discrepancies on each day vs the till roll.

what is the best way to resolve this? - without going through every pdq card receipt that I have?

is this likely to be where a transaction has not gone through the till and card machine only?

The first thing to check is there a timing difference. Are there receipts at the end of the day that go into the next day's merchant statement?

What sort of till system are you using, can you not down load the transactions onto a spread sheet to make it easier to compare.

you need to compare the till roll with the merchant statements where the transactions will be broken down per day. Comparing with bank statements won’t be as accurate as there could be payment delays / lost or misplaced till receipts etc

Make sure the staff are aware you are investigating, and see if the problem goes away.
