Dear Friends,

Need suggestions for a merchant account which allows web based payments plus offline like phone credit card payments or via mobile point of sales, i believe stripe can do this.

We have a good experience with this but we used to do this in USA and don;t know much about the UK and who are providing good and affordable prices and services in this market.

Your suggestions are welcome, we are more inclined towards stripe as of now but feedback is always welcome...

I've been using Stripe for 3 years now with my eCommerce store in the UK and haven't had any problems at all.

Although we don't take payments in person, this is possible.

Would highly recommend Stripe, plus there are no ongoing monthly merchant fees, pretty much a pay as you go model.

Depending on the turnover and business nature you can get some good rates via the main acquiring banks for Internet Merchant Accounts that allow processing via ECOM (website) and MOTO (Virtual Terminal). The % fees paid can often be lower than with bureau services, especially on Debit cards which are usually much lower than Credit cards with an acquirer but are charged the same for Credit and Debit with a bureau.

Stripe has grown substantially since it first came on the seen and they're great at what they do. They have their plus points as well as bad points. You need to take into consideration that they charge at best around 1.4% + 20p per transaction. This may be fine if you're a new starter business with low volume and your average sale amount is reasonably low but if you have high volume and your average sale ticket is quite high then there are options our there that will give you a rate as low as 0.23% on debit card and 0.65% on credit, which is a considerable difference. Im not sure if Stripe allow you to face to face transactions and you will be limited to how many telephone orders you can put through

Could I ask who you would recommend if your average sale ticket is quite high please?
